Structural Ferrocement

One of the challenges of ferrocement is the engineering. I say this because it’s what I see when doing research. I’ve found diagrams and step by step structural photos that have helped immensely in giving me ideas of what has been done in the past and works, but have not yet run into anything absolutely definitive that can be used to “guide my ship”. Plus I’m hearing of others who have had difficulty in getting their plans approved for building.

I spent some months working in our local Public Works department. I don’t know if it will be of benefit when it comes time for getting plan approval. I know I must have all my ducks in a row and have all the answers when the time comes.

A blog is born

In writing thoughts and ideas for our original house site I had been editing what I’d written before. The down side of this was, it removed from review any of the ideas and steps that got us to our current position. In setting up this blog I’m hoping to make the process a little more interesting/educational/reflective . . . something that will give more to those who have expressed an interest. Please feel free to comment.

As you read through this blog you will see I started with one plan and progressed to another, one that is a better/easier plan for me. I’m not saying my plan is best, just that it’s best for me. I hope this stream of consciousness approach to our building plans provides you with food for thought.
