Great information, but I keep feeling like you're working too hard and overcomplicating something that must be built by yourself. Keep it simple.

Why not use a metal arch building for the framework, sprayfoam insulation over the outside, cover everything with a polypropylene tarp for water protection, then backfill with earth as originally envisioned on your original site? "American Shelter Technologies" or "Future Steel" offers earth shelter designed buildings that you can build using a scaffold and simple hand tools. Use Tiger Foam for the exterior insulation (for DIY) or Icynene foam (better insulation), and a pond liner for the water barrier, and just finish the inside to taste.

Good luck on your project! I'm following a similar dream and wish you the best of luck!!
